Submariner

The Rolex Submariner was introduced in 1953 and is considered one of the most important sports watches in history. Created with professional divers in mind, it was the first wristwatch water-resistant to 100 meters and featured a rotating bezel and a luminous dial for readability beneath the waves. It became more than just a tool watch, it helped define what a dive watch should be. Over time, the Submariner evolved with updates like a sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel and modern in-house movements, but the design has stayed remarkably consistent. It has appeared in movies, on world leaders’ wrists, and in the collections of serious horology enthusiasts. While initially released in stainless steel with a black dial and bezel, the model now comes in a variety of materials and colors. The Submariner’s simplicity and function make it one of the most enduring and copied watches in the world.

Daytona

The Rolex Daytona is one of the most famous chronograph watches ever made, but its story began with a slow start. Released in 1963 and named after the Daytona International Speedway, it was designed for professional race car drivers. Early models featured manually wound Valjoux movements and were not especially popular, which ironically makes those references highly collectible today. The Daytona came into its own in the 1980s, partly thanks to Paul Newman, whose personal watch later sold for over $17 million. By the late 1980s, Rolex began using automatic movements, and demand surged. Today’s Daytona models include in-house calibers, ceramic bezels, and precise 1/8-second timing capabilities. Its tri-compax dial and tachymeter bezel are built for measuring speed, yet it’s now worn as much for style as it is for function. The Daytona remains a cultural symbol of performance, luxury and rarity.

Datejust

The Rolex Datejust holds the title of the first self-winding chronometer wristwatch to feature an automatically changing date window. Released in 1945 to celebrate Rolex’s 40th anniversary, it debuted with a Jubilee bracelet and a fluted bezel, two features that remain central to the model’s identity. The Datejust wasn’t created for extreme environments like other Rolex tool watches. Instead, it was designed to be worn anywhere, every day, by anyone who wanted a refined timepiece with cutting-edge tech. Initially only available in yellow gold, the model expanded to include Rolesor and stainless steel options, plus a variety of dial colors and textures. The Datejust line now includes sizes from 28mm to 41mm and offers everything from diamond markers to smooth bezels. Known for its reliability and timeless appeal, the Datejust is often the first Rolex someone buys and the one they never let go of.
