Collector's Notes

The Astronomia Solar Planets is less a watch than a working model of the solar system on the wrist, and one of only 101 Jacob & Co. ever made. Its hand-wound JCAM19 caliber mounts three arms on a central axis that complete a full rotation every ten minutes, carrying an upright hours-and-minutes dial, a rose-gold-and-blue-lacquered Earth turning on two axes, and a flying tourbillon, all beneath a Jacob-cut citrine standing in for the sun. Anyone exploring the outer edges of the Jacob & Co. catalog eventually arrives at the Astronomia. An aventurine base rotates counter-clockwise carrying seven planets cut from precious stones, granite, rhodonite, jasper, pietersite, tiger eye, alcite, and lapis lazuli, framed by an 18k rose gold case wrapped in a single-piece sapphire crystal. It is wound through two gold bows and rides a dark blue alligator strap, complete with box and papers.
