Most watches tell time from the front. The M.A.D.1 Time to Love reads it off the side of its 42mm steel case, where two revolving cylinders spin the bright green hours and black minutes into view, the numerals set in Jean-Charles de Castelbajac's own handwriting. Flip your wrist and the real show begins: a triple-blade titanium and tungsten rotor, lacquered in blue, yellow, and red and shaped like angel wings, sits on the dial side and whirls with every movement, an inverted nod to MB&F's Horological Machines. Under it runs a modified Miyota 821A automatic, deliberately turned upside down so that rotor takes center stage. This is the Castelbajac collaboration, a 999-piece limited edition from MB&F's more accessible M.A.D.Editions line, and it rides an embroidered leather strap reading "Time to Love." It ships with its box and papers. Pieces this playful rarely reach the MB&F Watches case at Grand Caliber, and this one wears its whole personality on its sleeve.
