The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon

The iconic Royal Oak Offshore, affectionately known as "The Beast," celebrates its 30th anniversary this year. To mark this milestone, Audemars Piguet has introduced a stunning new addition to the family: the Selfwinding Flying Tourbillon Chronograph in a sleek black ceramic case with striking green anodized elements. This watch is not just a celebration of the past but a bold leap into the future of the Royal Oak Offshore collection.

The new Royal Oak Offshore Flying Tourbillon Chronograph retains all the qualities that made the original so beloved, but with a few key updates that make it stand out. This version features a full ceramic case and caseback for the first time in the 43mm ROO collection. The use of ceramic is not just about aesthetics; it also showcases Audemars Piguet’s expertise in ceramic manufacturing and tooling.

The case design benefits from multiple finishing techniques, including updated and enlarged polished bevels on the edges, enhancing the overall look and feel. The black ceramic case is complemented by green anodized elements that add a futuristic touch to the watch’s design. This combination of materials and colors creates a visually striking timepiece that is both modern and sophisticated.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon

The Royal Oak Offshore Tourbillon Chronograph’s design draws inspiration from the world of supercars and fighter planes. The dial, with its openworked architecture, exudes a sense of aggression and futurism. The wide beveled bridges flanking the flying tourbillon and the vent-like surface of the movement plate beneath the dial are particularly eye-catching.

At 6 o'clock, the flying tourbillon takes center stage, revealing the intricate workings of the escapement. Above it, the gear train serves as the backdrop for the upper part of the dial. The chronograph counters, with their black outer rings, do not obstruct the view and maintain the sporty character of the series. The red hands for the minutes, hours, and central chronograph are in line with the sports theme, while the large pink gold hands with Super-LumiNova strips ensure excellent legibility.

The vivid green color that distinguishes this new Royal Oak Offshore variant is applied to various elements, including the rubber strap, rubber gasket, and several dial components. The green anodized inner bezel serves as the minutes track, featuring highly legible black-printed markings and numerals. The black PVD-coated titanium bridges are accented with green inserts, creating a cohesive and striking aesthetic.

At the heart of this limited edition Royal Oak Offshore is the calibre 2967, an evolution of the in-house flying tourbillon flyback chronograph calibre 2952. This automatic movement, which was first introduced with the Code 11.59 collection, consists of 526 parts, operates at a frequency of 3Hz, and offers a power reserve of 65 hours. The calibre 2967 ensures that this timepiece is as reliable and precise as it is visually stunning.
