The Patek Phillipe Calatrava 6119R is crafted in 18k rose gold featuring the Clous de Paris or “hobnail” pattern on the bezel. Its predecessor the Calatrava 5119 had the same bezel design. However, the new Calatrava attempts to make way for itself by blending a composition of modernity while paying homage to its roots. A modern update includes gold dauphine hands that have found dimensionality with three facets as opposed to two from previous generations. The matte white dial beautifully contrasts against the rose gold hands and indices. The soft enhancements of the rose gold dots on the railroad track add a touch of glamor.
The modern display caseback displays the newly developed movement. The large twin-barrel Calibre 30-255 movement offers 65 hours of power reserve and provides increased torque. Due to its large movement, the case has increased to 39mm. The new Calatrava is a large and wide watch that can be considered a daily wearer instead of the classic dress watch of its yesteryears. The round classic design connects to its curved lugs seamlessly similar to the original Calatrava reference 96.
Due to its modern updates, the 6119R gives a fresh impression compared to previous models. It seems to be the start of a new era for Calatrava. It’s timeless design and legacy make it a timepiece that effortlessly complements a wide variety of styles, collections, and situations. Further, the 6119R is an improvement to the Calatrava collection and, in other ways, an upgrade from what was considered the best of the line the original 96 reference.
